Two starting points
REX-BAC-T Technologies has been in business since 1983, and its website describes the company, as of September 2026, as having evolved from an industrial biotechnology and wastewater engineering company into a broader supplier of microbial biotechnology products, equipment and systems for residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, agricultural and municipal customers. The catalog is organized by application: BP-1200 for industrial wastewater treatment, EP-1201 for municipal wastewater treatment plants, and EP-1400 for petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated wastewater, alongside separate septic tank, cesspool, leach field and grease trap product lines and supporting equipment such as dosing pumps, aeration systems and odor control filters. Its septic system FAQ describes the products as containing selected bacteria strains along with enzymes it names as cellulase for fiber, lipase for grease and amylase for starches, working through what its FAQ calls bioaugmentation, the introduction of bacterial cultures the system did not already have. Its own FAQ also describes an ongoing dosing need, since bacteria already added are carried out with the water flow over time and killed on contact by strong detergents and disinfectants, which is why REX-BAC-T recommends dosing at low-flow periods and repeating the dose.
We start from a different point of intervention. DRP Accelerator is an inorganic compound that carries usable oxygen to the bacteria already living in your wastewater, and we add no bacteria and no enzymes of our own. Getting a new bacteria strain to actually change anything means first knowing what is already living in the system, and that lab evaluation is costly and easy to skip once a program is underway; what is often seen is that an added strain works at first, the lab work never becomes routine, and the added bacteria die off or have little effect once conditions shift. We only add oxygen. Think of it as supercharging the bacteria already there, and it works continuously rather than depending on a repeated bulk order. With that oxygen available, the native bacteria stop drawing it from sulfate, so hydrogen sulfide is not formed, and the same aerobic bacteria dig into fats, oils, grease and organic sludge that anaerobic conditions leave alone. The compound is consumed as the bacteria use it, so nothing of it stays downstream, and we dose it as far upstream as water and power allow, running it as a monthly service with no capital purchase.
Four things decide which one fits your system: what each one adds, when it acts relative to the moment hydrogen sulfide forms, what stays in the water once it has worked, and what it costs to run in capital and handling terms.
At a glance
| Factor | DRP Accelerator | REX-BAC-T |
|---|---|---|
| What is added | Usable oxygen for the bacteria already in the wastewater; no bacteria or enzymes added | Selected bacteria strains and enzymes such as cellulase, lipase and amylase, packaged as bulk powder, liquid or solid formulations, as its website describes them |
| When it acts | Before hydrogen sulfide forms, since those bacteria stop drawing oxygen from sulfate once oxygen is available | After the product is dosed and the added strain has reached the waste stream and taken hold |
| What stays downstream | Nothing; the compound is consumed as the bacteria use its oxygen, so no chemical additives are left behind | The added bacteria and enzyme population, until it is carried out with the flow or killed by detergents and disinfectants, as its FAQ describes |
| Where it reaches | As far upstream as water and power allow, into force mains, wet wells and lagoon bottoms | Wherever the product is dosed by hand or with separately sold equipment, one named line per application |
| FOG and sludge | Digested by the same aerobic bacteria once they have the oxygen | Addressed through the same bacteria and enzyme blend in each named product, with a grease trap line and a septic and leach field line sold separately from the industrial and municipal lines |
| Capital and handling | No capital purchase; arrives dry, mixed and activated in a tank on site | A bulk powder, liquid or solid product bought by the pound, with dosing pumps and other equipment sold as separate line items |
| How it is measured | Against a measured baseline, with follow-up readings as part of the monthly service | Not described on its site; REX-BAC-T’s FAQ describes dosing frequency and low-flow timing rather than a baseline or follow-up reading |
| Markets it names | Municipal, agricultural and oil and gas operators we work with directly | Residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, agricultural and municipal customers, as its website describes them |

That table is most of the decision. If it already reads your way, contact us and we will show you the program on your own system.
Where DRP Accelerator is the stronger choice
- Prevention instead of a repeat order. Hydrogen sulfide is never formed in the first place, because the bacteria already in your wastewater get oxygen before they would otherwise strip it from sulfate. A REX-BAC-T product works after that gas already exists, once the added bacteria and enzymes have been dosed and had time to reach the waste stream.
- No lab work to skip, because there is no new strain to track. Getting an added bacteria product to keep working means a lab has to evaluate what is already present, so anyone knows whether the new strain is having an effect, and that analysis has to be repeated as a regular part of the program. We only add oxygen to the population already there. Think of it as supercharging the bacteria that already live in your system, and it works continuously without a lab step to keep current.
- Nothing added that stays behind, and nothing to re-establish. We add no bacteria, fungi or enzymes, and DRP Accelerator is consumed as the bacteria use its oxygen, so no chemical additives are left in the water once the job is done. REX-BAC-T’s own FAQ describes its added bacteria as something that gets carried out with the water flow over time and killed on contact by strong detergents and disinfectants, which is why a maintenance dose is needed again and again.
- FOG and sludge digested by the same bacteria. The oxygen we supply lets the aerobic bacteria already on site work through fats, oils and grease and organic sludge, instead of ordering a separate named product line, such as a grease trap formulation or a septic and leach field formulation, for each application in turn.
- Upstream reach where a bulk powder product cannot go. We dose as far upstream as water and power allow, into force mains, wet wells and lagoon bottoms that a product dosed by hand or through separately sold equipment, one application at a time, was never built to reach.
- No capital purchase, a monthly service we run and measure. DRP Accelerator arrives dry, is mixed and activated in a tank on site, and runs as a monthly service built around a measured baseline and follow-up readings, not a bulk order of powder, liquid or solid product plus the dosing pumps and equipment to apply it.
Where REX-BAC-T has the edge
- Decades in business across a wide range of applications. REX-BAC-T has operated since 1983 and its website describes a catalog spanning residential septic and grease trap products through industrial, institutional, agricultural and municipal wastewater lines, which suits a buyer who wants one long-standing supplier across very different kinds of sites.
- A named product built specifically for hydrocarbon-contaminated wastewater. EP-1400 is described on its site as a blend of bacteria strains formulated to degrade both aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons in petroleum-contaminated wastewater, holding tanks and marine bilges, a use case aimed squarely at hydrocarbon spill response.
- Bacteria, enzymes and dosing equipment from one supplier. REX-BAC-T’s site describes dosing pumps, aeration systems and odor control filters alongside its bacteria and enzyme lines, which suits a buyer who wants one vendor to shop by application for both the product and the equipment to apply it.
Where DRP Accelerator pulls ahead is the moment the work happens: we prevent hydrogen sulfide before it forms and leave nothing behind, instead of dosing bacteria and enzymes that have to reach the waste stream, take hold and then be replaced as they wash out or meet a disinfectant.
Already running REX-BAC-T? Add DRP Accelerator upstream
Nothing about a BP-1200, EP-1201, EP-1400 or septic and grease trap product has to be removed to add DRP Accelerator. We review your data, work out flow and volume, and survey the site for a dosing point as far upstream as water and power allow, the same way we did at a Texas lift station: a wet well, a headworks channel or the pond itself, upstream of wherever a REX-BAC-T product is already dosed. We set a measured baseline before changing anything else, then take follow-up readings against it on a schedule that matches your tank size. With usable oxygen reaching the bacteria before hydrogen sulfide can form, an added REX-BAC-T product typically has less work left to do, and many sites reduce or retire it once the readings hold, though that decision is always yours to make against your own numbers, not ours. Gas monitors and confined-space procedures at a lift station or wet well stay in place regardless of what the readings show.
How to decide
- Find where your own system actually runs out of oxygen, the wet well, the force main or the lagoon bottom, not the tank or trap a bulk product is dosed into by hand or with separate equipment.
- Ask what each product adds to the water, whether that is a bacteria and enzyme blend that has to establish itself or usable oxygen for the population already there, and what, if anything, stays behind once it has done its work.
- Ask what happens to fats, oils, grease and sludge at that same point, and whether that takes a separate named product line for each application or the same bacteria already doing the rest of the job once they have the oxygen to do it.
- Ask what it costs to run in capital and handling terms, whether it is a bulk order of powder, liquid or solid product plus dosing equipment, or a monthly service, and how the result gets measured, a repeated dose on a schedule or a baseline set before the first dose.
Ask both vendors for the same page
Ask REX-BAC-T, and ask us, for the same page: what is added, when it acts relative to the moment hydrogen sulfide forms, what stays downstream, and what it costs to run in capital and handling terms. A fair vendor answers all four questions in the same terms for its own product, not just the ones that favor it. We will show you the program on your own system: where we would set the dosing point, what a measured baseline looks like, and how we report the readings against it once the service is running. Contact us and we will walk through it together, or reach us through our contact page if you would rather start there. We say all of this in public, on this page, because it holds up in public.
